Tagging along through his front yard, on “safari” with “Colonel Berdon”, five-year-old Errol longs to see Africa, where the alligators may have gone after the earthquake—either there, or Highland Park. He isn’t sure.
“I didn’t see that,” Harvey said. “You didn’t see that.”
“No. I definitely didn’t see that, either,” Mervyn said. “I couldn’t have seen that. I was with you, and you didn’t see that. So, I didn’t see that.”
“Thank God we didn’t see that,” Harvey said. “Someone might want to talk to us about it.” They turned and walked purposefully away. “Let’s go see a man about a slot machine.”
